A Raft Trip through the Grand Canyon

of the Colorado River

Lee’s Ferry to Lake Mead

June 21 – July 10, 2006

This is a “slide show” of a private raft trip through the Grand Canyon in the summer of 2006.  It’s not a trip report as such; the idea is just to illustrate the visual highlights of our trip.  Our experience was not so very different from that of many others, and neither are the pictures, but we hope you will enjoy them nonetheless. The trip was led by Pete Tryon of Anchorage, Alaska. Russell Hood took the photographs, and Ralph Tryon put together this web page.

Enjoy the show

We didn’t take photographs at most of the big rapids (though we did get some nice shots at Lava), so in order to complete the visual story we have drawn on the work of others.  The individual images are credited; here are the links to the original web sites, which are highly recommended.  Many thanks to the creators of these pages for taking the time to put these sites together, and for allowing the use of their work.
